What Class Action Lawsuits are Currently Pending Against at&t
All big companies come under big scrutiny, it is the cost of being a household name. It then seems reasonable that these companies would occasionally end up in class action law suits. These are often happening, and it is only when there are really serious charges that they actually make it to court usually. One such case would be the cases against AT&T that have happened over the last few years.
The most recent case against AT&T to hit the news has been a group of AT&T customers who are suing AT&T for millions of dollars in damages because the company helped the government wiretap their phone and internet lines without letting anyone know, or gaining anyone’s permission. This is a serious offense they are being accused of, and so far no one seems to be denying that it is true. In fact the AT&T lawyers are trying to have the case thrown out to protect State secrets. The state actually faces a few lawsuits of this nature right about now, and has been denied almost all of them being thrown out on account of State Secrets.
Previous to this was a lawsuit covering AT&Ts; 3G network. When the Iphone first came out, it was well over advertised. This was a trend that continued when the Iphone 3G came out. There was even a bit of advertising that said the new 3G phones would be twice as fast. The first few firmware updates did nothing to help and even for some made the problems worse, making it so they could not even use the phone part of the Iphone, much less anything else. Smith, the first person to file, argued that there was potentially tens of thousands of members who have been robbed due to actions not taken by AT&T. She felt that if she had paid her money for the service, the service should be provided, as most people do.
Previous to this there was a string of class action law-suits that hit AT&T as well as almost every other phone carrier. Phone carriers were being sued for charging early termination fees. We all know they are going to happen if we leave our contract early, it is part of the point for the phone company to have to contract, but clients were complaining that they were being charged ridiculous amounts and that ETFs were illegal. The phone companies claimed that ETFs are a way to offset the discount offered on phones when people sign up for a new contract. What happens from there is in the hands of the courts.
This is just a small sampling of the type of class action lawsuits that have been filed against AT&T.

AT&T will not admit when they are wrong. They are irresponsible, unreasonable, mean and too big for their britches! Their business and management practices are to treat people poorly and to be as resistive as possible. God help us!

AT&T has lied and told me I was bundled and would pay one amount two years ago. I pay 126.00 for a hardline, 178.00 plus taxes for u verse, 69.00 for internet. the point is I have written 2 letters and no one seems to want to help me or they say “oh yes you are bundled” how is that possible I pay over 400.00/month. please tell me what or where to go to begin a lawsuit against them for lying to consumers. i know a couple of people who have the same problem, being told they are bundled but paying seperetly for each thing. AT&T are serious crooks in my opinion and there feet should be held to the fire for it.

I am currently dealing with the early termination problem, myself. They Charged Me around $445 as a deposit that I was told was refundable and also that I was NOT under a contract. I was also told that my connection charges were in my bills to come. I was told that I would pay $165/month plus taxes/fees. Then, when I get my bill after they disconnect me, btw, It’s $175/month! And, I’m paying around $226 total a month instead! WTF???? Now, I’m moving. They wont refund my depost, claim that I’m under contract and the only way to NOT pay a early disconnect fee is that when I move, if they Don’t have service in that area, I’ll be ok! Whatever!

I’m looking to see if anyone has had the same problem as I’ve been dealing with since February. AT&T illegally ran my credit when a family member was interested in switching cable service. They never requested or received my permission, any information from me, and have yet to take action on removal. They told me – after many phone calls, a letter to the CEO, and my tail-chasing for records and evidence to send to them – they had finally sent a request for removal. Months later I try to verify, and Experian says that they never received any such documentation. I’ve been passed around, and though I’ve been quite compliant, it’s now become more so “taken advantage of”, and outside of bringing this forth legally, I don’t foresee any remedy. If there are others experiencing the same, or have previously and have advice, I’d greatly appreciate it!!

I can really understand you frustration with the whole AT&T issue but if you think having their service is bad try being an employee for the fortune 500 company. You would think that being one of the nation’s largest telecommunication companies that they would treat their employees like gold, not quite. Since the merge from SBC to AT&T it had been one of the worst places to work. When I first started my job it was February 10, 2003 and I would have never thought I could have loved a job as much as I did SBC. Just the idea of being employed by this mega company was great. From morning to night that only thing I talked about was being an employee of SBC it was so bad that I had my children to the point where they could not wait until they were old enough to acquire a position. Once the doors closed behind SBC so did many of our lives. AT&T is not one of those jobs that you can no longer base your family’s future on. It’s like AT&T strives on destroying family values. I can remember it was October 31, 2008 and our computer systems were down so we were all doing different assignments. As the night went on I then finished my assignment so I had to put the work back into it original place it was found and I was supposed to take my 15 minute break as I did every work day. Once I returned and I was getting ready to punch back in I noticed that I was late but could not figure out why then it came to me before I left for break I had to take the work that I was completing back to its original place. Because of the way the office was set- up everybody had what is called a pod mate. Now because I had a pod mate she was able to explain also to my coach what had taken place. I then said to her, now you seen what I did and I also showed her my actual punch time. As I was returning back to my desk I then stopped my coach and tried to explain to him the reason I was late and his exact words to me was Lola it is 6:30, it is a Halloween and it is also Friday so I really don’t want to deal with this tonight but I will take care of it on Monday. Now it’s Monday morning with no response at all from my coach, so as the day came to a close I noticed that the management started acting a little out of the ordinary so I just decided to watch and see what would happen. Now, it’s Tuesday with the same type of attitude and responses from the day before. I forgot to mention that I have never been a person whom has had a problem with our management because unlike most management staff we all had a good relationship. Again needless to say it is day three (WENSDAY) with no reply what so ever from my coach about what had taken place on that Friday night (Halloween October 31, 2008). Now being 4:30p.m on (weds day) November 4, 2008 my coach proceeds to my desk to ask me could I log off in what was called meeting with coach so I then asked should I bring my stuff and he said yes not knowing I had already started removing my items a day in advance. Once we started the meeting that they had already planned they then begin to ask me if I had any questions, I then said what questions could I possibly have you had already decided my fate and due to the fact that you did nothing to even clear up the situation at hand you had my days numbered anyway. The moral to this story is in a blind of an eye 6 ½ years of my life gone ruined because someone decided that they either did not want to do their job or they just wanted me gone but whatever the reason they had no problem destroying my future, my living conditions, and the respect that I had acquired over the years. Yes it was all gone all because someone did not want to do their job. What a great place to work right (not).

Beware of L.M.Berry of Brentwood,Tn.,an affiliate co.doing advertising for AT&T. Their reps tell you lies and then no one will help out.
I had told the new rep that I only wanted my name in the directory as I might be closing my office down in July. I cancelled my website. She said I should still take out internet advertising at about $116 a month and I said, no, that would be too costly to be paying that plus the other for over a year.
Here’s what she said. “The internet directory can be closed at any time. Here is the phone number” which she gave to me. And then she added, “But don’t say it came from me.”
Guess what?! Yeah, no one would cancel and said that I had signed a contract. Which I had. Rep has now resigned to get married. There is a big turnover of reps in that office…because they are either ignorant or just plain liars.
And although this is a telephone company, no one will return my calls.

I have experienced nothing but extreme stress since acquiring services from at&t. I have 359.61 in overcharges and unauthorized use of my debit number by at&t. They lie, and steal from it’s customers!! My bank is investigating this and I’ve also contacted a lawyer. All parties involved will be held accountable I assure everyone! “Big Corporation” doesn’t frighten me at all.

AT&T bought out Alltel in our county. Since that time service in our rural area, which used to be good, has been horrible and spotty at best. This is the only service we have available to us. We have several folks who do not have landlines and depend on these phones. These same people could not call 911 in the event of an emergency.I pay approximately $200.00 per month for three phones which work less than half the time. Many complaints have been lodged with AT&T. The company assures us that they are working on the problem and service will improve shortly. Of course it never does. I am trying to get a class action suit going against this company.

I am a very unhappy AT&T customer. They have charged my credit card for $748 and I was on the phone for 58 minutes and transferred over 10 times and no one could figure out what the charge was for. They need to be sued for all those people out there who have to sit on phone and wait and wait and transferred and transferred. It’s ridiculous! When I call in my account should be brought up and my questions should be answered promptly! WTH!!!
